Overall Test Results

The structural behaviour of GEO-GRIDS were very poor compared to conventional reinforcement bars.

-Brittle behaviour,

-Poor energy dissipation capacity,

- Poor secant stiffness

The aim of the graduation project was to design hallow depth beams. Our students designed their RC beams for the same given concrete strength levels and section properties.

Title: The effect of rectangular web openings to the flexural strength of deep reinforced concrete beam

ABSTRACT

There are two options in passing through the ceiling of mechanical-electrical lines such as sanitary, waste water, heating piping, HVAC ducts, electric and phone cabling.The first one is passing below the beams and the other one is passing through the reservations inside of the beams. In this study, investigation subject is loading capacity, crack formation and progression in steel and geogrid reinforced concrete beams due to these rectangular shaped reservations. During the experiment in geogrid reinforced concrete beam brittle failure was observed , on the other hand in steel reinforced conrete beam ductile failure was observed. In both specimens adherence cracks were formed.

Title: Determination of Strength and Designed of Deep Beams With Web Openings Placed At The Opposite Corners


ABSTRACT


  • Some spaces are left in reinforced concrete beams to spread the needed installations for delivering some facilities in a building. The gaps existing in the beam body increase the deflection and deformation of the reinforced concrete beams under load while decreasing their carrying power. Studies made so far concentrated to the details and quantities of the reinforcements which are needed to reduce the effects of these gaps on strength and stiffness of the beam. It is aimed the reinforcements which will be used in these beams, to raise the level of strength and deflection of the deep beams which have gaps to the beams which haven't got gaps and to limit possible cracks in the deep beams with reducing the negative effects of stress concentration around the gaps to the beam. In this way, it is aimed the strength and the deflection of the beams which have gaps to be in the beam level. The bending moment behavior and deflections of the deep beams will be examined with the values obtained from the formulas in the literature. In this Graduation Project study, the deep beams, genoid as a shear reinforcement and using reinforcement are emphasized. For this purpose; deep beams were produced with same geometrical shape and with using genoid as a shear reinforcement and reinforcement in laboratory environment. After completing the studies, the effects are investigated with applying 300KN load to the beam. With the light of the findings; it is found that the carrying capacity of the genoid is increased, while stretching of reinforcement is about %40; the stretching of genoid is %7 and the fracture is crispy.

Title: Structural behaviour of a deep beam with circular web openings subjected to singular loading

ABSTRACT

The vast majority of today's construction comprised of reinforced concrete skeleton structures, such structures column consists of beams and slabs. Beams in the neck; effective depth ratio is called the lesser of the two beams to high beams. Our experience effective depth of 90 cm and 175 cm tall and in the asymmetric placed 25 cm diameter circular space will be made in two high beams. According to the beam reinforcement geogrid content and will give results very close together what will be seen in the pressure test. The main objective is to examine how they will affect you strength GEOGRA used instead of spaces location and fittings in this experiment. c25 class in concrete beams and S420 ribbed steel bars were used. Also beams in the space environment, it placed additional pressure equipment to support district and region. due to the effect of voids placed additional reinforcement is used to increase the reduced strength parameters. Forms generated in the first stage and the reinforcement with concrete information on the basis of the results obtained revealed quantities and only consisting of geogrid reinforcement and consisting of beams connecting geogrid reinforcement + GEOGRA course kept the pressure test beam cured during 28 days after the concrete casting is designed to transport power torque 300 kNm like it will be seen how the test results will be as close to that value.

Title: An experimental study on flexural stregth of hallow depth beams

ABSTRACT

In experiments conducted, two beams are used with the annular space in the body. In order to compare the experiment; variable and other samples using steel reinforcement steel is used in a sample obtained from geogrid reinforcement both. The design is on high beam to be considered in the design of high hollow beams matters "TS 500" and loading criteria which will be held "TS 498" are not include in the regulations. Experimental study of high circular space at the end of the geogrid material obtained was compared with the behavior of the steel reinforcement in analyzing the behavior of reinforced concrete beams.

Title: Design and analyse of reinforced concrete deep beams with large rectanguler web openings

ABSTRACT

We conducted research on some studies about high beams and hollow beams but couldnt find any studies conducted on both these parameters. Thus our study is one of its kind. In this study, we analyzed the designs of high reinforced concrete beams with classical and geogrid large hollow beams with web openings which had the same cross sections and characteristics. We prepared two samples one of which was made by using only reinforcement with concrete and the second was made by using reinforcement, concrete and geogrid. These samples characteristics were analyzed with the aid of a loading frame in laboratory conditions. As the experiment results show, the geogrid and classic reinforced beams slumped under different vertical loads. It was understood that geogrid behaviour was more ductile than reinforcement. Also it was seen that both beams fractured towards a fixed brace. It was seen that because of the middle gap of the samples, they acted like seperate beams. The only lack of our study was that it is analyzed under singular vertical loads.                                                                                                                                                                                                           Key words: High Beam, Deep Beams, Large Hollow Beam, Geo-Grid

Title: An experimental study on the design of deep beams with circular web openings

ABSTRACT

  • The presence of multiple regular openings in beams provides an effective design by allowing passage of the pipes and ducts needed for different services in a building and by distributing the stress concentrations around the openings along the entire beam length. The present study investigated the in-plane flexural behavior and service-load deflections of reinforced concrete beams with regular openings. The analytical estimates obtained from different formulations in the literature were compared to the experimental results of specimens with different reinforcement schemes. Irrespective of the final failure of the beam, the service-load estimates calculated based on the Vierendeel failure mode were shown to be in close agreement with the experimental values. Nevertheless, the initial portions of the load-deflections curves of specimens failed in pure flexure coincided with the analytical curves corresponding to the flexural failure, rather than the curves corresponding to the Vierendeel failure.

Title: Design and experimental investigation of a deep beam with a web opening at the lover Corner

ABSTRACT

High-single-spaced beams in a variety of accessories and goodri Ø has been used , especially in buildings, cables , and other plumbing materials in the space environment and for the passage of the beam of spreading to the whole of the cumulative stress that may occur is of the nature of an effective design. In this study, regularly-spaced single reinforced concrete beam in-plane deflections and bending behavior are investigated. Based on the existing formula in the literature, reviewed the calculations and design of concrete. Two different geogrid reinforcement with hollow beams with ribbed material exposed to the specified external load for the material examined and the results of experimental studies of the necessary comparisons have been made.

Title: Design of Small Size of Hallow  Depth Beams 

ABSTRACT

In this study, the small hollow beams to compare the capacity to meet the prime high tensile strength using twelve different building materials is done. First established with the design load for that beam size, beam design was made by determining the design space. Construction materials used, the geogrid reinforcement and is defined as the characteristic behavior of the two materials were investigated under the same loads. Two different materials exposed to external hollow beam load for the determination of examining the results of an experimental study has been necessary comparisons.
